I highly recommend Instant-Runoff Voting
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Instant-runoff_voting) for being both
fair and, well, instantaneous, as well as very easy to use from a
end-user perspective.
Basically, everyone ranks all the candidates (or even a partial list
of the candidates), and through a simple processes one can easily
discover who is the overall most preferred.
I'm not sure how easily it will find runners up however, I guess they
would be the next to last (and so on) candidates eliminated.
