[Icehouse] DIY Cloth Chessboard

I've actually found the little hand-held sewing machines aren't
half-bad for small crafts like this -- don't get a kid's toy, get the
'real' version, and don't sew much more than a few hems with it -- but
it'll do until you get a bigger machine or get comfortable with hand
stitching!
